Wibsey and Queensbury PPG Minutes,  20th January  2020 by Zoom

Meeting opened 2 pm

Attending - John Andrew, Maureen Sharpe, Jill Wilson, Dr Button, Clifford Organ, Lesley Organ, Frank Beaumont, Pauline Hebden.

1. APOLOGIES - Pat Sherry, Rizwana Salman

2. CHAIR AND SECRETARY VACANCIES - no volunteers. John to continue for the meeting but will then be withdrawing from the group. Maureen will take minutes and circulate and then retiring but remaining in the group.

3. SURGERY UPDATE - Dr Button reported that the surgery is working okay with all GP services working as pre pandemic- hospitals are still catching up. Staff are holding up - the odd absence due to COVID isolation.

Dr Button actioned a survey to gain patients thoughts on how service is managing.

Graphs were presented:-

SPEED AT WHICH PHONE WAS ANSWERED- much better.   Audit to be repeated in 6 weeks.

OBTAINING HOME VISITS - to be re audited

SATISFACTION WITH APPOINTMENTS GIVEN - fairly happy, increasing satisfaction.

PRESCRIPTIONS - repeats during Dec/Jan/Feb - turnaround can be prolonged, generally happy.

RESULTS - phoning in at specific times to be emphasised as receptionists become overburdened as patients are calling in for appointments.

RECEPTION STAFF- despite staff being under pressure

              HELPFULNESS - generally happy

INFORMATION BY CLINICIANS - overall satisfaction with practice.

Dr. Button stated a survey of complete patient group is difficult due to the ways patients make contact - looking at different way of carrying out a survey.

Due to demand still advertising for a GP.

A discussion followed on the various ways patients are contacted/seen.

4. CAR PARK- John said he noted that for the 20 minutes he sat waiting for his wife no cars came or went and wondered if it’s a ‘shopping car park’ for Wibsey. Jill stated that surgery and chemist staff take the majority of spaces and concluded that parking is not abused.

Clifford, on behalf of the group, thanked John and Maureen for their service to the group.

5. Date and venue of next meeting- possibly last week of April, Jill to look at dates - hopefully face to face (or zoom).

PATIENT GROUP MINUTES – 1^ST MARCH 2021 3.00pm BY ZOOM

Meeting opened at 3.00pm

1. Apologies – John Andrew, Rizwana Salman (didn’t receive email link)

1. Practice update by Jill WilsonCovid vaccinations are taking place at The Ridge (our practice not suitable). There were spare jabs in January but now supply chain not sending as many as needed.It was stated that delivery of vaccinations was excellent and efficient with the group of 5 surgeries in our group organising appointments.Vaccinations of housebound and care homes were carried out by GPs.Two more practice nurses (from 22^nd March).  

1. Mid-April, a very experienced practice nurse is relocating to our area.

1. Staffing – Full time ANP appointed (can carry out everything that a GP can) with a second opinion from a doctor available.

1. From 17^th March second vaccinations to begin.

1. A discussion took place around vaccinations and organisation.

1. Queensbury surgery not yet fully open, but more services are opening slowly. A GP is onsite in mornings and a triage system is in place. Hospitals are opening services slowly.

1. Patient query regarding no vaccination information on website – it was confirmed that information is to be found at the start of surgery website.

PPG ZOOM MEETING MONDAY 16^TH NOVEMBER 2020

ATTENDING – John Andrew, Cliff Organ, Leslie Organ, Pauline Hebden, Frank Beaumont, Jill Wilson, Maureen Sharpe.

APOLOGIES - Rizwana Salman, Pat Sherry (who is recovering from COVID-19)

John welcomed everyone

1. Election of Chair – in his absence, there was a unanimous proposal of Pat Sherry – Maureen to contact for his decision.

1. Election of Secretary – initially no volunteers – new member Pauline Hebden was asked to take over – it was agreed that with assistance from Maureen she would take over in 6 months.

1. Constitution - No suggestions for changes was forthcoming so present constitution stands for next 3 years to be reviewed in 2023,

1. Pandemic effect on surgery and general update – Jill reported that 3 teams of admin staff in bubbles had been formed. Working longer days – 12 hours over two and half days.   Some staff had the caught the virus, so surgery was short of staff in isolation. There is one bubble working at Queensbury but purely for admin purposes – surgery isn’t open - with all patients still referred to Wibsey surgery. Elderly and vulnerable patients have been contacted either by phone or house calls to check all is well.COVID-19 vaccinations – logistics re patients to be resolved – possibly invitations as per flu – due to temperature of vaccine storage CQC have yet to arrange suitable venues.A discussion followed on the feasibility of the problems the surgery faces. The surgery has been on a steep learning curve and problems have proved a logistical nightmare. There are between 450 to 500 telephone calls each day, with usual services carrying on. Two new apprentice members appointed – Millie and Charlie – they are learning about admin, customer services, answering phones, prescriptions – they are working closely with Amy. Adverts out for a replacement practice nurse to replace Emily and an advanced practitioner to carry out work like Imran. There are also two new pharmacists working remotely.

There being no more business the meeting closed at 4.25pm

The next meeting, probably a Zoom, will be arranged for January when new chair is in post.
