medication4 Please allow 2 working days for your prescriptions to be processed and signed before collection. Please ensure that you request your prescription a few days before you run out of your medication.

Some chemists will arrange to collect your prescription from the surgery so that you can go directly to the chemists to collect your medication. If you would like to take advantage of this service please ask at reception. We can now arrange for your prescription go electronically to the pharmacy of your choice. Please discuss this with either your pharmacy or a member of our reception team to arrange.

As part of changes across Bradford, GP's can no longer accept repeat prescription requests from pharmacists unless there are exceptional circumstances or your medication is in a dossett box.

If you order your own medication this change will not affect you.

The easiest way to order prescriptions is to tick the items you require on your repeat medicines list and return it to the surgery.

Alternatively, you can register and request repeat prescriptions on line. Please as reception staff for further details.

Requests can be made by either handing them in at the Surgery, posting or requesting on line.

If your repeat medication requires amending please contact the surgery to speak to a member of staff.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

NHS prescription charges from 1 April 2023

The Department of Health and Social Care has announced the new NHS prescription charges in England.

From 1 April 2023, the NHS prescription charge will rise to £9.65. The cost of an NHS Prescription Prepayment Certificate (PPC) will be:

£31.25 for 3 months
£111.60 for 12 months (patients can spread the cost and pay in 10 monthly instalments)

The cost of an NHS Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) PPC will be £19.30.

People who pay for their NHS prescriptions could save with a PPC. Rather than paying £9.65 for each prescription, the 3 and 12 month PPC covers unlimited NHS prescriptions for the one-off set price. This means if people need 4 or more items in 3 months, or 12 or more items in 12 months they will save money by buying a PPC. How much they can save depends on the number of prescriptions they need each month.

The quickest way to buy a 3 or 12 month PPC is online at www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/ppc.

The HRT PPC will be available from 1 April 2023. For more information visit www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/hrt-ppc.

Before buying a PPC, patients should check if they are entitled to free NHS prescriptions and other help with health costs at www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/check.

Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.

About SystmOnline

SystmOnline allows you to do things like booking appointments and ordering repeat prescriptions at a time convenient to you.

SystmOnline is also available as an app, which can be used on Apple devices (iPhones and iPads) and on Android devices (mobile phones and tablets). The app can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store and from the Google Play Store. Simply click the relevant logo on the SystmOnline Login page.

Note: SystmOnline is only available from within the UK. You cannot access SystmOnline from abroad.

Logging in to SystmOnline

To use the SystmOnline service, you will need to go to your registered GP practice to request a SystmOnline username and password. You cannot register for this service online because the practice needs to verify your identity. Consider calling the practice in advance to find out what kind of identification you will need to take with you, e.g. a driving licence.

Once you have registered at your GP practice, they will give you a SystmOnline username and password. If they hold an email address for you that has been verified as being correct (this means the practice has sent an email to you in the past and you have replied to it), they will also send you a confirmation email containing your SystmOnline username and the SystmOnline website address.

Wait an hour before trying to log in to the website. Your GP practice may have set up a link from its own practice website, which you can follow to access the Login page. Otherwise, your practice will have given you the web address you need to type into your web browser.

Type in your username and password and click Login.

If you have been granted access to other SystmOnline accounts, you will see a list of usernames you can choose to log in as. Click Login As This Person to choose the account you want to use. This might happen if you have a relative who is not confident using a computer and has granted access to you so that you can use SystmOnline on their behalf. Click here for instructions on how to give another person access to your SystmOnline account.

You will then see the SystmOnline Home page, which shows your details and your GP practice's contact details at the top.

Note: The services available here will depend on the services your GP practice has decided to offer; therefore, not all of those listed in this guide may be available to you.

You can navigate to all the online services from the Home page. To return to it, click Home in the blue menu bar or click the Back button on any page.

Changing/Resetting Your Password

You will initially be given a random password and when you log on for the first time, you will be prompted to change it to something more memorable. Passwords must be eight or more characters long and must contain at least one number and one non-alphanumeric character, e.g. '!' or '?'.

If you need to change your password at any other time:

Click the Change Password link on the Home page.
Type in the current password.
Type in the new password.
Re-type the new password.
Click Submit. You are advised to memorise the new password. Do not write it down or disclose it to anyone else.
Click Back.

If you forget your password, you can reset it yourself, provided your practice has an email address for you that has been verified as being correct (this means the practice has sent an email to you in the past and you have replied to it).

To reset a forgotten password yourself:

Click the I've forgotten my password link on the Login page.
Type in your username and email address on the Reset Password page.
Click Reset Password. You will receive an email containing a new password.
Use the new password to log in to SystmOnline. You will be prompted to change the password to one of your own choice as soon as you log in. The password must be eight or more characters long and must contain at least one number and one non-alphanumeric character, e.g. '!' or '?'.

If you do not have an email address that has been checked, you will need to visit your practice in person and ask for your password to be reset. When you log in with the replacement password, you will be prompted to change it to a password of your own choice.

Logging Out of SystmOnline

To log out:

Click the Logout link on the Home page or Logout on the main menu bar.
Close your Internet browser.

Note: The website will automatically log out after a period of inactivity. Type in your username and password to log in again.
